HENSOLDT South Africa, one of Africa’s leading defence and security electronics companies, has joined the AAD 2026 Conference as a sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to advancing defence innovation and indigenous technological capability in Africa.
Taking place from 16 to 18 September 2026 at Air Force Base Waterkloof, the conference will bring together senior military leaders, government representatives, defence industry executives, academics and technology specialists to examine the trends, innovations and opportunities shaping the future of defence on the continent.
In addition to its sponsorship, HENSOLDT South Africa will contribute specialist knowledge to the programme through two senior representatives from HENSOLDT GEW.
On Wednesday, 16 September, Ryno van Staden, Head of Sales and Marketing at HENSOLDT GEW, and Wimpie van den Berg, Land EW Product Portfolio and Strategy Manager at HENSOLDT GEW, will jointly present:
“The future of land EW: Enabling spectrum dominance in multi-domain operations.”
As modern conflicts become increasingly contested, congested and interconnected, control of the electromagnetic spectrum is emerging as a decisive factor in operational success. Their presentation will examine the evolution of land-based electromagnetic warfare from a standalone capability into a critical enabler of multi-domain operations.
The session will explore how software-defined architectures, artificial intelligence and advanced spectrum management are transforming EW systems into agile, networked capabilities able to detect, analyse and respond to threats at machine speed.
“We are delighted to welcome HENSOLDT South Africa as a sponsor of the AAD 2026 Conference. Its strong local heritage, advanced technological capabilities and international reach make HENSOLDT an important contributor to Africa’s defence and security landscape,” said Guy Martin, editor of DefenceWeb.
Under the theme “Africa’s Future Defence: Trends, Innovation and Opportunities,” the three-day conference programme will focus on:
- Day One – The Future of Warfare
- Day Two – African Defence Industry Showcase
