SONIC BOOM: AFRICA AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE 2008 EXHIBITION AND AIR SHOW AIR FORCE BASE, YSTERPLAAT - 20 September 2008

As part and parcel of the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD 2008) exhibition’s public flying days program, the scheduled flying demonstration program includes a demonstration of an aircraft flying at the speed of sound at an altitude of approximately 25 000ft.

DTi Assistance - 7 April 2008

The Department of Trade and Industry and the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI) will once again host a Pavilion at Africa Aerospace and Defence 2008. As part of this pavilion the dti and AISI are offering an opportunity for small aerospace related companies to participate in AAD2008. As such, they are offering the successful applicants a free 3x3m (9m2) stand on their pavilion. Companies wishing to apply for a stand on the dti/AISI pavilion should contact Geoff van Hees at the AAD Show Organisers Office (info@aadexpo.co.za) for the application form. Your application must reach the AAD Show Organisers Office by 30 June 2008.


Rheinmetall intends to take a stake in South Africa’s Denel Munitions - 21 February 2008

Germany’s Rheinmetall Group today (8 February) signed an agreement with
Denel (Pty) Ltd, indicating its intention to take a majority equity
stake in Denel Munitions. The agreement was signed in Pretoria by Mr
Armin Papperger, President Rheinmetall Waffe Munition and Denel’s Group
Executive, Ms Lana Kinley.


Foreigh Military Attache and Advisors Corpr Briefed on AAD 2008 - 1 November 2007

On 16 October 2007 the AAD 2008 organising team made a presentation to the foreign Military Attache and Advisors Corps (MAAC) based in South Africa. The MAAC meet on a monthly basis to discuss issues of mutual interest and the October meeting provided the ideal opportunity to the AAD 2008 organizers to inform them on the current status regarding the planning for AAD 2008.

AAD 2008 Promoted at Leading International Defence Exhibition - 23 October 2007

AAD 2008 promoted at leading international defence exhibition.
At the launch of the South African Defence Industries Directory (SADID) at the Defence Services and Equipment (DSEi) exhibition in London on 11 September, the AAD show director utilized the opportunity to further promote AAD 2008 which will take place from 17-21 September 2008 at the Air Force Base Ysterplaat, in Cape Town.

The opportunity to promote AAD 2008 at leading international defence exhibitions such as DSEi, IDEX, SOFEX, FIDAE, DSA and Eurosatory has resulted in an increase in interest to participate at AAD 2008 in Cape Town.
